The next Mayor of Hayward must be a leader with experience, knowledge, and the track record needed to lead Hayward forward. As a Hayward City Council Member for the past nine years and longtime community leader, I have that experience, that knowledge, and that track record.
As a Council Member these past nine years, I have worked hard to improve our neighborhoods, promote beneficial economic development, strengthen police and fire services, revitalize our Downtown, protect the environment, and support our children and youth, and we have made good progress in each of these areas.
Together we have helped keep Hayward moving forward during tough times and made the city safer, cleaner, and more attractive, while maintaining a balanced budget and putting the city on a better financial footing in the years to come.
As Mayor, I pledge to continue making progress in these important areas.
- I will work tirelessly to create good jobs with decent wages, support local business, and continue to revitalize our Downtown and commercial centers with family and neighborhood-friendly retail and City services.
- I will be unwavering in our work to make every neighborhood in Hayward safe, and I will redouble the City’s efforts to reverse the current escalation of residential burglaries and auto theft.
- I will extend a helping hand to our youth by expanding our after-school homework support centers, strengthening anti-smoking and alcohol policies to prevent sales to minors, and ensuring our kids have safe places to play.
- I will recommit this city to a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
